Taste of Sudbury 2015

With almost ideal weather – not too hot and not too cold – the 2015 Taste of Sudbury Food & Drink Festival was held on the 14th June with  the third year of this successful event  even bigger and better than previous years.  With local producers, restaurants and eateries showing off their amazing food, cooking demonstrations on stage sponsored by Bookers Wholesale and with a new demonstration inside St Peter’s  church setting showing off the best of Neff Appliances organised and ably run by KSL Sudbury.

The event benefits from Free Entry, Free Parking, Free Park & Ride and feedback from both visitors and exhibitors is that it has a great atmosphere, promoting Sudbury as not only a historic market town but a destination for shoppers and visitors throughout the year.

The event had lots going on, with two champagne bars, local produce to taste and buy, street food, musicians, milking of a cow (not a real one) sponsored by SB Surveyors.  A Ready Steady Cook challenge and a World Record attempt to fillet a 10lb salmon which was achieved by Nick Barrett, Scutchers of Long Melford in a time of 1 minute 5.76 seconds.

Lesley Dolphin of BBC Radio Suffolk opened the event with  Jack Owen, Sudbury Mayor.  This was followed by a performance by the Pot Kiln Primary School Choir and demonstrations on the stage compered by Mark David from The Cooking Experience.

Top local chefs doing demonstrations on stage including:

  • Ben Newman, Edwardstone White Horse
  • Alan Paton, Stoke By Nayland Golf Club, Spa and Hotel
  • Lavenham Butchers with a butchery mini masterclass
  • Regis Crepy, The Great House, Lavenham
  • Garth Boothby, Jam Tartz Outside Caterers
  • Malcolm Long, Assington Country Kitchen
  • Rosita Minichiello, Scarlet Rosita Food

Many exhibitors are already looking to sign up for the 2016 event to be held on the 12th June 2016 and preparations already underway, all is set for this to be another great success.  If you missed this years event why not put a date in your diary and we look forward to seeing you at this increasingly tasty event!
